Checking Medications When Discharged From the Hospital

May 12, 2010

One very important thing to consider when being discharged from the hospital is  your medications.  Many people’s only focus to getting home as fast as possible.  Often times for short stays the physicians in the hospital often are not aware of other routine medicines and supplements you take daily.  Additionally, your primary care physician is not always aware of changes in your medications, particularly,  if you see several specialists.  To the patient all of these medications can be confusing.

It is important for you to check with your primary care physician to review  your hospital discharge medications along with your current medications.  This review will ensure your discharge medicines and your daily medicines are appropriate for your optimum wellness.
